Organize content item view with sections and columns
Prepr offers a unique possibility to properly organize the view of a content item for your editors. By using sections and columns you determine the display of the fields in your content item. This is useful for grouping topics, for example.

A section is used to create separate groups of elements for your editors. This can be helpful when you want to divide fields in your content item. It is common to split the content of a content item with SEO settings. Or, for example, separating item metadata from the content.
To organize the fields in your content item with sections, go to Settings > Publish > Models and choose the model you want to edit.
Click ' Add section' and give the section a name and a description to instruct your editors (optional). Drag this element in the right place. You can edit the settings if needed. The fields in your content item are now split.
Sections will not affect the (API-)output of your content items.
Sections in content items
Content item are organized according to the fields, sections, and columns you have set up. Following the fields and sections in the example above, the content item will be displayed as seen below. This content item contains a section between the dynamic content editor field 'Content' and the tag field 'Category'.
Columns are used to properly divide fixed content item fields into one, two, or three columns. This is very user-friendly when you use several smaller fields, such as short text fields, list, color, or boolean fields. With columns, you can display those fields next to each other and organize your content item in a very clear manner.
To organize the fields in your content item with columns, go to Settings > Publish > Models and choose the model you want to edit. To add a column, click ' Add column' and choose the number of columns. You can drag this element in the right place. The fields in your content item are now split.
Columns will not affect the (API-)output of your content items.
Columns in content items
Content item are organized according to the fields, sections, and columns you have set up. Following the fields and columns in the example above, the content item will be displayed as seen below.
Please note that there are two exceptions.
- A dynamic content editor field will always be visible as a one-column field.
- Screen resolutions smaller than 1024 will also ensure that the content item remains visible in 1 column.
Using small and wide content item view
When you write and manage a lot of texts in Prepr, the readability of those texts can be an issue. We think the optimal line length is about 70 to 90 characters per line. If the lines are getting longer, it does significantly affect usability reading and writing a Prepr content item.
To ensure the best readability and the most comfortable reading, we made it possible to narrow and widen the view of the entire content item. Click on ' Small view' at the top to narrow the fields and place them below each other. In longer texts, this is an amazing improvement in readability.
To get back to the default (wider) view, simply click 'Wide view'. The last view state (small or wide) is saved in your profile. So the next time you visit a content item detail page, the content item will be displayed in width as you saw it during the last visit.
